For Practices

Websites for practices and health professionals

For practices the website is rarely advertising — it is administration: it answers the questions that otherwise cost time on the phone.

01 — The situation

How it usually looks

Patients almost always search locally — they want a practice nearby that takes new patients and opens at reachable times. If those three details are not immediately visible, they call and ask. Every one of those calls is working time nobody can bill.

02 — What counts

What matters for practices

Are you taking new patients?

The most frequently asked question on the phone — and the easiest to answer. One sentence on the homepage saves several calls a week.

Consultation hours and appointments

Hours visible without scrolling, plus how an appointment comes about: phone, online booking, referral. If there are walk-in hours, that belongs prominently on the page.

Directions, parking, step-free access

For older and less mobile patients that is not a side note but the deciding question. Lift, steps, accessible parking — name them concretely.

Services in plain language

Patients search by symptoms, not by medical terms. Name both: the clinical term and the word people actually use themselves.

The usual mistake

Promotional claims that are professionally risky. Health professions are subject to particular advertising rules — promises of success and before-and-after images are a known target for warning letters. I build the site technically; the content should be checked by someone who carries liability for it.

03 — Structure

Which pages you need

A workable starting point. Not every point applies to every business — we settle that in the first conversation.

  1. 01Homepage with hours and whether you are taking patients
  2. 02Services, organised by complaint
  3. 03The practice team with photos
  4. 04Directions, parking, accessibility
  5. 05Contact and emergency information
04 — Example

ELEKTRO MA

Visit site ↗

Master electrical contractor, Duisburg

A certified electrical contractor doing solar, smart home and installation work, with no website at all — enquiries came only through word of mouth.

A web presence with a contact form and technical search optimisation. Enquiries now also come from people who had never heard of the business.

05 — Questions

Frequently asked

We are not allowed to advertise — what is even possible?

Factual information is always permitted: services, hours, qualifications, directions. It gets delicate with promises of success and comparisons. In doubt we leave it out — the site works without it.

Do we need online appointment booking?

Only if you maintain it. A booking system not synced with your calendar creates more work than it saves. Often a phone number plus clear hours is enough.

What about patient data?

None is processed on the website — a contact form should explicitly not ask for health details. That is exactly how I set it up.

A website for your business?

Describe briefly what you have in mind. You get an honest assessment of effort, duration and cost — and a hint if something else fits better.
