n8n is an automation platform from Berlin: workflows connect your software, fetch data, let an AI read or write and trigger the next step. Unlike Zapier or Make, n8n can be self-hosted – no fee per execution, and your data stays on your server.
Setup on your server
n8n runs on a server in Germany – your own or one I operate for you. With backups, updates, encrypted credentials and monitoring so nothing silently stops.
Building workflows
From the website enquiry to the invoice in accounting: I build the workflows, test them with real data and add error handling – including alerts when something goes wrong.
AI in n8n
n8n comes with building blocks for language models and agents. Emails get classified, documents read, texts prepared or data summarised – with human approval where it matters.
Moving from Zapier or Make
Existing zaps and scenarios are migrated and often simplified. From a few thousand executions a month this saves noticeable money.
A handover that lasts
Every workflow is named, commented and documented. You get training and can make simple changes yourself – or leave maintenance to me.

When it is not the right choice
For two or three simple connections with few runs, a hosted service like Zapier is often cheaper than your own server. I will tell you beforehand.

What is n8n?

Zapier is the easiest but the most expensive at volume. Make is cheaper and more flexible. n8n is the most flexible, can be self-hosted and, self-hosted, does not charge per execution – ideal for high volume, sensitive data or AI workflows.
Is n8n GDPR-compliant?
Self-hosted on a server in Germany: yes. Data only leaves your infrastructure where you decide – for example when calling a language model, which then needs a data processing agreement or an EU model.
What does n8n cost?

Can I change the workflows myself later?
Yes. n8n is visual, every workflow is documented and you get training. For bigger changes I remain available.
